描述：CA-074Me, the membrane-permeant prodrug of CA-074, represents a proinhibitor, that itself is almost inactive, but can enter cells and there inhibit intracellular cathepsin B. Therefore CA-074Me is suggested to be a very promising reagent for the investigation of the intracellular functions of cathepsin B. This cysteine protease showing β-secretase activity could be involved in amyloid β formation.
